Arboreal Canvas

Arboreal Canvas is a projection-based immersive installation that transforms trees into living projection surfaces through layered animation, environmental imagery, and evolving spatial light.

Created for Digital Graffiti in Alys Beach, FL, Arboreal Canvas investigates the tree as medium, using projection to explore how organic surfaces reshape moving image through an evolving interplay of light, texture, movement, and natural form.

Developed in collaboration with composer Thad Anderson, the work transforms trees into living projection surfaces where bark, branches, depth, and motion actively shape the projected image. Rather than functioning as passive screens, the environment becomes a collaborator—continuously altering the relationship between projection, atmosphere, and space.
